Every year the CEB Secretariat collects HR data from member organizations and publishes statistics. Reports detail staff demographics such as staff grade, nationality, location, gender and age.
Markers on the map below represent UN system duty stations. Select an organization (on the chart above) to filter the duty stations presented. To reset the map, deselect the organization(s). The default view is all organizations.
The selection of a duty station on the map provides detail on staff headcounts (by organization and category) in the table below.
Duty Station Detail
Every year CEB Secretariat surveys the human resources within each member organization and generates statistical reports. Statistics are a snapshot of staff as at 31 December of the reporting year. Organizations remain accountable for the figures provided.
Statistics are collected from 33 member organizations. Since 2006, figures reported for the United Nations also include staff in field missions administered by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). UN Secretariat submits data on behalf of UN-Habitat, UNEP, UNODC and UNCTAD. Therefore, figures for these entities come under the "UN" grouping.
Statistics exclude staff with appointments of less than one year. National Professional Officers (NPOs) are reported separately, but some charts include this category.
Errors & Omissions
No data was submitted by the United Nations in 2004. Data reported for ICAO in 2006 were those of 2005.
Staff categories, summarized here, are as follows: 'G' for General Service (levels G1 to G10); 'P' for Professional (levels P-1 to P-5, D-1, D-2 & UG) & 'N' for National Professional Officers (levels NO-A to NO-E).
Between 2006 and 2007, there was a staff contract reform during the 61th General assembly (ref. A/61/255). In 2007, the status of the field mission staff changed.
The designations employed do not imply the expression of any opinion on the part of the secretariat of the Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) concerning the legal status of any country, territory, area or city.
