The HR Network WG on Long-Term Care completed a draft document which has been shared with the FB Network.
The two Networks would examine the issue with the aim to provide long-term care insurance coverage as part of the overall social insurance arrangements for staff. Careful consideration of the financial implications of this provision is necessary, especially with regards to the IPSAS requirement on disclosure of accrued liabilities. A variety of scenarios will be taken into consideration. In its February 2010 meeting the FB Network decided to halt its participation in the joint HR/FB WG on Long Term Care while recommending the HR Network to continue to explore options of the long term care schemes to be funded by participants, including those offered by the private sector in view of the advantages of economies of scale presented by the UN system.
