Coordinated United Nations System Action on Climate Change

In 2007 the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB), under the leadership of the Secretary-General, initiated a process to align the strengths of all organizations of the United Nations system in coordinated action to meet the challenges of climate change.

The objective of the CEB’s work is two-fold:

  • to support the process for an international agreement within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); and
  • to assist Member States at national, regional and global levels in their efforts to address the impacts of climate change.
